Welcome to Elephant Retreat Chiang Mai

Modern life in Thailand continues to present challenges for elephants. We continue to witness too many elephant sanctuaries engage in unwelcome practices that are not in the elephant’s best interest. Elephant sanctuaries continue to have elephants engage in practices we find are not in the best interest and welfare of the elephants, such as performing circus-style tricks, walking on roads, working in heavy industry, or exploiting popular beach locations.

At Elephant Retreat, we have designed an elephant sanctuary that replicates Jurassic Park. We are 2 km from the main road and have an entire mountainside, allowing the elephants to roam as they would in the wild.

Elephant Retreat is not just a sanctuary; it’s a gateway to a tranquil world. We are 100% compliant with animal welfare protection guidelines, and our primary goal in creating this sanctuary was to provide a safe haven for our rescued elephants. As soon as you step into our sanctuary, you’ll feel an immediate and profound connection with nature.
